A studio apartment, also known as a studio flat (UK), a self-contained apartment (Nigeria), efficiency apartment or bachelor apartment, typically consist of one large room which serves as the living, dining, and bedroom. Kitchen facilities may either be located in the central room, or in a small separate room, and the bathroom is usually in its own smaller room.

Getting your first apartment can be quite challenging and most people start out with a studio apartment. You need to find balance in a small apartment – overdoing it can make the space chaotic. A calm base accentuated with colorful textiles, art, and travel finds works for me. Today i will share tips on how to style the living/sleeping area of a studio apartment.

 1. If you daydream of higher ceilings, play around with your curtains. Mount the rods as high as possible and run your curtains all the way from the ceiling to

the floor. To make the room feel wider, place them at each end of the room. Easy!

2. Mirrors are a tried and true way to create feelings of greater depth and light. Of course, you could use one larger mirror, but we love the idea of decorating with a few different sizes and shapes for additional style points.

3. It’s all about the air. Get a roomier room by picking furniture with lighter frames and bases, as well as glass tops and doors. If you forgo the usual heavy bookcase for open shelving and brackets built up high, you’ll end up with lots of clean, uncluttered wall space.

4. Be smart with storage. Fit everything you need into whatever space you have. Declutter your space. Get organized by using storage boxes. Make a bed with pull out boxes and inserts underneath. Utilize your walls, build a floating shoes rack instead of a standing one, you get to save space and show off your collection of shoes.

I believe your home should feel like you. No matter how small your space, it can still show your personality.
